The Shawshank Redemption Argumentative Essay Example For Students
The Shawshank Redemption Argumentative Essay The Shawshank RedemptionThe Shawshank Redemption is a very unique movie which involves manydifferent personalities and underlying themes. The personalities of the inmatesare very interesting and when they are combined they create a very fascinatingplot which looks at prison life in a interesting and different perspective thanone normally thinks. The main characters are Andy Dufrense (Tim Robbins) andEliss Red Redding (Morgan Freeman). These characters are well complimented bythe wise and simple old man, Brooks (James Whitmore), and the evil warden. Thepersonalities of the Shawshank prison combined to form a sort of community. Onenever really thinks of a prison as such, but it seems to hold true. This movieshowed a prison not only as a place where murderers and thieves live, but as acommunity of people who have had problems and may or may not be rehabilitating. We will write a custom essay on The Shawshank Redemption Argumentative specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It seems that some prisoners go in and accept what they have done and try tomake something of an already disastrous life while others give up and reallydont care if they commit other crimes (inside and outside of the prison). Butin all reality, the prison was home for the inmates and they made it into whatit was. The demeanor of the characters creates a very unique atmosphere. The story revolves around Andy who is convicted of murdering his wifeand her lover in 1946 and is sentenced to life in prison. He is sent to theShawshank prison, the state prison in Maine which is known for its harshness. At the beginning of the movie, one does not know if Andy committed thehorrible crime of murder. But what is known is that he is not ready for prisonand honestly doesnt seem like a man who would survive. His thinking going in isjust to survive and blend in. He knows that sticking out would not be good forhim. Throughout the movie, Andy undergoes several changes in his personality. But overall, he seems like a wise man who will deal with what the justice systemhas served him. He is normal on the outside but seems full of emotion. Hisemotional side is best put by the 4/14/95 issue of the San Francisco Chroniclewhich reads, Dufrense, a soft-spoken banker with emotions bubbling under thesurface. Andy is a very complex character but one can see that he holds hisfeelings inside of him and tries not to let people know how he feels. Andys friendship with Red begins in a peculiar way because neither of themhave anything in common. Andy asks for a rock hammer which Red gets for him. Red,knowing that Andy is vulnerable, gets him on the tar duty and seems to take himunder his wing. The friendship is very unique and they both are very energeticwith emotion. Bill Dupre of the News and Observer writes of their emotiontogether, This is a graceful, quiet characterization, and Robbins scenes withFreeman are wrought with depth, delicacy, and precision. This is where the opportunistic side of Andy begins to be evident. Afteroverhearing the guards talking, he almost risks his life to tell the guard thathe will help him keep the $30,000 that he inherited. This shows that Andy hadguts and that he wanted to survive. In return for his favor of helping the guard,he gets his fellow workers ice cold beers on the last day. It is ironic becausehe has quit drinking himself. Andy then begins to work in the library becausethe warden hear s of his talents in finance. This is where Andy first meetsBrooks. He use this opportunity to ask the state for more money to build alarger library. And finally, the way Andy escapes is almost genius. Knowing thathe is on the good side of the warden, he devises a very interesting andsuccessful plan of escape. .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .postImageUrl , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:hover , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:visited , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:active { border:0!important; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:active , .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6bca761e966b79e21206d5478911a40f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Fvgdf EssayOverall, Andy blends in with the prison community through the good timesand the bad (the sisters, a group of homosexual rapists). His personality is oneof a person who makes the most of what he has. But he never loses hope that hewill be free one day. Red is a very unique character in his own right. The prisons sole blackinmate, he is the man who smuggles contraband into the prison. He is also alifer and he says that he is the only man in the prison who is guilty. He hasaccepted his fate and is dealing with the prison as his life but still tries tomake his life on the inside the best he can. Red really doesnt think much aboutbeing paroled (he is rejected several times during the movie). He just takes oneday at a time. He is determined not to let the jail system get to him. Hisfriendship with Andy becomes stronger throughout the movie from when they firstmeet until Red joins Andy in Mexico. Red is a man who knows the rights andwrongs of the prison and it seems that Andy becomes his apprentice during themovie. Overall, Red is a subtle man who tries not to be noticed. His personalityis one of perseverance and he is ready to accept what the system may deal him. Talking about the warden is difficult just for the reason that he is acruel man who represents evil and unfairness in the movie. The reason the wardentakes a liking to Andy is because Andy is an accomplished accountant who canhelp him cheat the state. The opportunistic Andy takes advantage of this byreading the Bible (to impress the warden) and basically doing what he is told. This leads to the wardens demise (trusting Andy too much) and Andys escape. The personality of the warden does not change much throughout the movie. Even if he does something nice (letting Andy help fellow inmates), his solepurpose is to profit and be in charge. He shows off his power many times and inthe cruelest way. For example, his power and cruelty can be best seen when hediscovers that the young inmates testimony may free Andy. The wardens solutionis to kill the young inmate and get the matter out of the way. Losing Andy wouldbe devastating to him. The warden basically adds the bad guy dimension to themovie. The prison had people of all ages and backgrounds (non racial). Brooks is areal old timer who had been in the prison for a very long time. He exemplified aman who had just made prison his life and he was very content with his life. Henever foresaw leaving and knew this would be his life. He didnt expect anythingout of the ordinary to happen. He seems to be a lost soul not knowing what hewants or what is right for him. His death signified his confusion. The movie gives us a perspective of a prison not really shown before. Though the movie may seem unrealistic in some ways, it is very moving and makesone think deeper about who the inmates are and what they are really like. In the4/14/95 issue of the San Francisco Chronicle it reads, As preposterous as it isappealing, The Shawshank Redemption takes a straightforward, soul stirringnovel by Stephen King and turns it into a somber, bloated prison drama designedto pump you with inspiration. This inspiration is created by the actions andwords of various characters. It is actually an inspiration to the viewer toalways have hope and pursue your goals. Red said, Hope is dangerous on theinside. He was saying that having hope could drive a man crazy but in allreality he had hope in himself. This was untrue because Brooks death signifieda lack of hope. He really had no one and the inmates were his family. Leavingthe prison was devastating and he just thought nothing of life. Red was contradictory to his own words because he ended up surviving and succeeding all be causeof the hope that he had. .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .postImageUrl , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:hover , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:visited , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:active { border:0!important; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:active , .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43 .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6732b013a08de9c9514baadb55fa4c43:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Ethnographic Film EssayThe personalities of the characters create an almost unreal setting whereyou see things you may not expect to see. Ethnic Polarization and the Duration of Civil War
Ethnic Polarization and the Duration of Civil War Introduction The article discusses the relationship between the civil war duration and ethnic polarization. The arguments in the article provide that civil wars are key barriers to the development of the economy. Civil wars lead to the destruction of infrastructure, loss of human life and have an effect on future prospects for investment.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Ethnic Polarization and the Duration of Civil War specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The causes of civil wars can be analyzed in relation to their onsets, the duration of the wars, as well as the incidence of civil wars. Civil wars may start randomly, after which conflicts emerge. Factors such as a country having mountains where rebels can hide also contribute to the onset of civil wars. Civil wars may also emanate from low per capita income; this makes a civil war last longer than it would have lasted if the per capita income was high. Lack of democrac y may also trigger a civil war as rebels form militia groups in order to oust an undemocratic regime (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). Literature Review The available literature indicates that certain factors can be attributed to the onset of civil wars. One of the methods used in the estimation of the civil war onset includes logic regression, which analyses some of the causes as high population, with high primary commodity exports, as well as a population that is highly dispersed. Inequalities in incomes, ethnic differences and political liberties may not be significant risk factors for civil war. The available literature also indicates another probable causes of civil war which is oil exports in a country. An analysis on the incidence of civil war shows ethnic polarization as one of the factors affecting the incidence of such wars (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). Analysis by Montalvo and Reynal-Qureol shows that democracy and export have little impact on civil wars. In terms o f duration of civil wars, Gates and Strand estimate that major factors influencing this issue are political instability, parallel conflicts and autocratic regimes. Studies also indicate that income inequality can be regarded as a main cause of civil wars (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). Method/Methodology Certain methods can be used to explain the relationship that exists between civil wars incidence and ethnic polarization. One method, which can be utilized, is the traditional ration form, which defines a quadratic based cost function, contest success function, as well as pure contest equilibrium.Advertising Looking for essay on ethnicity studies? Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Another model that can be employed to establish relationship between conflict and ethnic polarization, is taking a country that consists of two social groups. This model shows that the discovery of a natural resource may trigger violence b etween the two groups. The methodology used to establish the relationship between civil wars and ethnic polarization is also based on measuring the duration in relation to years, months, weeks, as well as days (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). Methods such as Kaplan-Meier estimation of the survival function can be used to establish the relationship existing between ethnic polarization and duration of civil wars. Based on this method, survival function of countries that have low ethnic polarization tends to be dominated by nations with high ethnic polarization (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). Results As indicated in the results provided in the article, ethnic polarization has a profound impact on civil war duration. More pronounced ethnic polarization indicates that the civil wars will last longer than expected. Therefore, ethnic disparities within a population may cause civil wars that may even last for decades. Attention should be directed at polarized countries in order to come up with measures, which will ensure civil wars do not take a toll on the population (Montalvo Reynal-Querol 123-143). SWOT analysis on Apple company Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
SWOT analysis on Apple company - Research Paper Example SWOT Analysis Strength Apple has been known for its innovation strategy and is one of the most successful companies. The company is known for its innovation, its unique ability to design and develop the companyââ¬â¢s operating systems. The strength of the company lies in providing the customers with new product and solutions with a superior ease of use. The company investment in the research and development along with marketing and advertisement also adds on to the list of its strength (Apple Inc.-a, 2011, p.1). The company products are in high demand for example, sale of iPod increased and about 100 million iPods were sold making it the fastest selling music player in history (Apple Inc.-b, 2011). The sale of its notebooks products are also very strong and represent a huge contribution to Appleââ¬â¢s income. Apple is one of the most influential and established brand in the world and thus has a set of loyal customers who advocates the brand. The brand not only attracts new cust omers but also retains them. Weaknesses It was reported that Apple iPod Nano had faulty screen. Apple has admitted that there was problem with its new iPod Nano due to a manufacturing problem. The company claims that this problem has affected less than a 10th of 1% of all the Nanos shipped (BBC News, 2005). The music industry have demanded to increase the price of its music downloaded file as many of the music industry makes money from iTunes rather than from the sales of the original CDs. According to Steve Jobs, Apple has made a sale of more than half a billion songs with its iTune Music store capturing about 82% of the market share in US (Cohen & MacCentral, 2005). The product life cycle of the products of Apple is very short and thus revenues depend on the launch of new products and services. Market share of Apple is behind from its competitors such as Microsoft. Opportunities As more and more consumers are getting individualistic and conscious about a brand, Appleââ¬â¢s oppo rtunity is to target those set of consumers. Apple can introduce more new models to cater to the needs of its customers. Apple has an opportunity to develop its iTunes into mobile phone format. Downloads could be available through USB cables, new technology and strategic alliances which would offer a wide opportunities for Apple. The music can be downloaded from Podcasts and played on the iPods where the listener can subscribe for free and revenue can be generated from sales of various other downloads. Another opportunity lies with Apple is with the companyââ¬â¢s smart phones. At present Samsung has outshines Apple smart phone thus giving an opportunity to Apple to come up with new features and capture the market share (Whitney, 2011). Since the PC and mobile industry is growing at a steady rate, thus Apple being one of the successful brands has a wide opportunity to explore and expand itself into other countries such as into Asia. There has been an increase in the demand for onl ine music and other applications such as the cloud making a room for Apple to expand into these sectors and generate high revenue. Threats The biggest threat for Apple comes from the high level of competition from the technology markets. A successful market attracts competitors and Apple works hard on its Research and Development and in its marketing tool to retain its competitive position. The popularity of

Literature - Essay Example He doesnââ¬â¢t have the handicap most literary characters have of catching onto something long after the reader has already figured it out. He is educated and ambitious, and entirely motivated to succeed, but this also leaves him vulnerable to failure. The love he shares with Medina-sarote is as stable as his existence I the world of the blind. She is very sweet and kind and while she enjoys Nunezââ¬â¢s tales of sight, she doesnââ¬â¢t believe him anymore than the rest of the village. The concept of a land of blind citizens is one that can be taken into multiple contexts. Every story from Platoââ¬â¢s the Allegory of the Cave to The Matrix has a metaphor of blindness verse truth. Wellââ¬â¢s tale can just as easily be connected to Platoââ¬â¢s Allegory of the Cave as it is to Freudââ¬â¢s theory. The Allegory of the Cave is a metaphor in Platos Republic.à The story basically asks the reader to imagine a prisoner whose been confined since birth deep within a cave.à Their arms and head are confined so that they may only perceive one direction, staring directly at a wall.à Behind the prisoner is a fire and a pathway.à Along this pathway the prisoners captures walk and carry animals and cast shadows.à When the captures talk their words echo off the walls of the cave and the prisoners believe them to be coming from the shadows.à Plato presents all of the possibilities that fall within this situation.à He points out that if one prisoner wer e to escape their eyesight would be sensitive to the sun when they leave and if they were to return.à Platos purpose of telling this story is to show the human nature thats inherent in being naà ¯ve to reality.à It is often connected to the theory of George Berkeley, more simply put, that we dont truly know any object we see beyond our mental reaction. strange disease had come upon them and had made all the children born to them thereââ¬âand, indeed, several older children also--blind. A passionate and powerful poet Essay Example for Free
A passionate and powerful poet Essay Sheenagh Pugh is for me, a passionate and powerful poet; the majority of her poetry has contained the themes of the earth and how it will be ruined if we are not careful. Even within her childrens poetry, these themes are prominent. The other major theme within the poetry of Sheenagh Pugh is the bible this theme is quite often in association with divine love for earth. She deals with this in a startlingly refreshing and compassionate way, often with the sense of melancholy but never with depression. Sheenagh Pugh refers in the title of The craft I left in was called Esauà that the pilots name is Esau and she is suggesting that mankind has made a bad bargain like Esau did in the bible. The settings of the poems are different from each other; The craft I left in was called Esau is set in an spacecraft while Do you think Well ever get to see Earth again, Sir? is set in a classroom on a different planet evoking memories of home.à In Do you think well ever see earth again, sir? the setting is in a classroom and the teacher referring about earth. Sheenagh Pugh has set this poem in another world and in a class because she wants to show how it would make us think of home. She is uprooted from her culture or roots and she speaks I cant fancy a tour through the ruins of my home which suggests that she has no intentions of seeing her old traditions and earth. The theme of Sheenagh Pugh poems are to present us with a sad view of the future and a grim warning of what could be. In the craft I left in was called Esau Sheenagh Pugh mentions People joked nervously; just like a plane flight this suggests that people are joking to make themselves feel better to forget the true purpose of this trip, to forget that theyll never return.à I would have you ten years before the flood: this image gives the picture of how extreme his eternal love is and to what extent it goes. This effect of this is dramatic to the reader and builds up tension. The language of the poem becomes more positive as it progresses. The first stanza up to line ten, with its image of a woman in a trip ready to leave and never to return. The questions in the second section of the poem suggest progress towards understanding and the exclamations in the final section give the impression of sadness and remorse. In the second part she mentions No bother, no big deal. I cant recall feeling sad, not then which suggests the mood that the person is in a sad mood. The poet says that she cannot remember being sad at that moment in time but in line 12 not then she indicates she did feel sad at some point. We dont exactly when, but at some stage, she felt remorse and sad. In do you think well ever see earth again, sir? Sheenagh Pugh has been critical of Earth. The but in line 11 signals a change in direction. The speaker changes his/her approach completely and becomes optimistic. Sheenagh Pugh uses alliteration should see something to describe some beautiful thing like a leaf. This type of language gives a dramatic effect as we start to feel as we are ruining the earth and how we will remember it in the grim future. Towards the end of the craft I left in was called Esau, the passengers looked back in line 20 as they struggle to look ahead. They are still looking back to what theyre leaving behind. She mentions that earth is quite small really compared to the rest of the universe. The poet compares Earth to a guesthouse and we are just passing time on it but Earth is our permanent home. This gives us a grim warning of what could happen if we are not to careful. In do you think well ever get to see earth, sir? The speaker says at the end Look at it with the inside of your head, look at it for later, look at it for ever, and look at it once for me which suggests that the speaker wished that he/she looked at these simple things the last time they saw them? The speaker regrets not savoring the little moments and this is what Sheenagh Pugh is trying to get over the message to us to look after the earth as well not see it again once it has gone.à The language and structure of Sheenagh Pughs poems are to convey that we have to look after earth. She gets this message thought by using language as alliteration like in do you think line 11 should see some and similes in the craft I left line 7 people joked neverously; like a plane flight to show us what can happen in the near future.

Short And Long Run Aggregate Supply Curve Economics Essay
Short And Long Run Aggregate Supply Curve Economics Essay Aggregate supply is the total supply of goods and services produced within an economy at a given overall price level within a specified time period. It is represented by the aggregate supply curve during a given time period that shows the total supply of goods and services that the firms are willing to offer to the economy during a specified time period at a given overall price levels. Normally, there exists a positive relationship between the aggregate supply level and the price levels upon which that annual supply curve has been made. Aggregate supply function of the economy is also referred to as total supply of the economy as shows the total supply of goods and services that the firms are willing to supply at given price levels. It also shows the capacity of the firms of the economy and the fact that the firms can supply the economy with the appropriate level of goods and services in order to satisfy the demands of the economy. Aggregate supply curves are made on the basis of long and short term which depicts the total supply function of the firms of the economy both in the long term and in the short term for the economy. There can be some shifts in the aggregate supply curve for the economy which can be attributed to number of different factors and variables affecting the economy. These factors can be many some of which may be the change in the size and quality of labor, the mere fact that the labor size has changed that is more and more labor is available to the firms for the production of their goods and services or that the labor which is already available to the economy has gained more and more skills due to which it has become easier to produce more for the economy. Other factors can be the change in technology or it can be said that the technological innovations can cause a shift in the aggregate supply curve of the economy. Ãâà Increase in wages, increase in production costs, changes in produce r taxes and subsidies, and changes in inflation can also be some of the driving factors in the shifting of the aggregate supply curve for the economy. Different schools of thoughts have different views of economics and therefore they have different approaches towards the determining of aggregate supply of the economy that is to be made to the economy. Aggregates supply is the function of aggregate availability of labor and other resources in the given time period and the price levels for the production of those goods and services that provide the aggregate supply of those goods and services to the economy. Short Run Aggregate Supply Curve Supply side of performance of the economy is the main determinant of the aggregate supply of the economy. Short run aggregate supply depicts the productive capacity of the economy and the costs of production of each sector. There may be a shift in the aggregate supply cure and this can be caused by the following factors: Changes made in the supply size and quality of labor force that are available to the economy. Changes in size and quality of capita stock through investment. Technological progress and the impact of innovation. Changes in the productivity of factors à ¢Ã ¢Ã¢â¬Å¡Ã ¬ both labor and capital. Changes in the wage costs per unit .i.e. wage costs per unit of output. Changes in producer taxes and subsidies. Changes occurring to the inflation expectations. Arise in inflation expectations are likely to boost wage levels and in affect cause the aggregate supply curve towards the inwards shift. Long Run Aggregate Supply Long run aggregate supply is determined by the productive resources available to meet demand and by the estimated productivity of factor inputs that are Land, Labor and capital. There is a clear distinction between the short run and long run aggregate supply cures. In the short run aggregate supply curve is dependent on the price levels for a particular output and therefore increase in price levels affects the supply of goods and services in the economy whereas it is not true for long term aggregate supply as they are thought to be independent of price levels in the long term. The productive potential of the economy in the long run is mostly driven by the improvements to be made in the productivity levels and by the expansion of the available factor inputs. Expansion of the available factor inputs can be made through the realization of more firms, a bigger and much better capital stock and an increase in the number of skilled labor force etc. due to these reasons long run aggregate supply curve is made vertical on the graphs. The classical model of economics defines the aggregate supply curve as being a vertical line at the full employment level of real production. The early Keynesian view describes the aggregate supply curve to be a parallel curve to the horizontal axis .i.e. a horizontal curve. It shows that the price level will remain same over the time period and the firms will have to manage their supply according to the available price level prevailing in the economy. The newer Keynesian view describes the aggregate supply curve in the two aspects .i.e. fixed money wage and variable money wage. According to the newer Keynesian view aggregate supply curve is the upward slopping curve at different wage levels for the economy. The supply side school of thought in the economics define the aggregate supply of the economy based on the fact that the aggregate supply is affected by the quality of labor and that the much higher prices are paid to the more skilled labor as compared to the less skilled or unskilled labor.

Sacred Spaced Ap Art History
Throughout history, monuments have been built to show power, wealth, and even conquest. Depending on a cultures value and tradition, the types of monuments can vary from era to era. However, the construction of sacred monuments has predated from the times of the start of civilization in Mesopotamia to even modern day. People have always created buildings to show their faith, and to honor their gods. In Ashokan India and ancient Greece, the creation of sacred spaces was very common. The creation of the Great Stupa in India and the Parthenon in Greece both were built for the honor and worship for the respective god and goddess for both nationIn India during the rule of the Buddhist ruler Ashoka, the Great Stupa of Sanchi was commissioned. The Great Stupa was considered to be one of the greatest monasteries patriotisms to Buddhism. Even though it can be dated back to Ashokaââ¬â¢s reign, its consists of many buildings and parts that was made overtime and well beyond the time period of Ashoka. The dome of the stupa is roughly fifty feet high and is filled with earth and rubble. The stupa would hold relics of the Buddha himself where the people of india would come to as a pilgrimage. The people of India would enter through the gateways of the stupa, walk down a path called the lower circumambulation, and climb up the stairs to the secon level to walk the second circumambulation of the stupa. Buddhist ventured the relics of Buddha through circumambulations, which was walking around the stupa in a clockwise manner, following the path of the sun and brining the worshiper into harmony with the universe. The Great Stupa itself had more than six hundred inscriptions showing the donations of hundreds of individuals that made the building of the stupa possible.Ancient Greece was also known for extravagant temples honoring their Gods. The Acropolis found in Athens is another example of elevation in attempt to get closer to the divinity. The Parthenon was built for Athena, t he cityââ¬â¢s patron goddess and also the goddess of War. The Greeks built this large temple to thank Athena for the Salvation of Athens after their victory in the Persian War. Inside, there once stood a thirty-eight foot high statue of Athena with a winged Nike in her hand. On her sandal, there was a depiction of the centauromachy. On her shield were scenes of both the amazonomachy and he gigantomachy. All of these were battles the Gods fought in during the Persian War. The columns of the temple surrounded the statue in a symmetrical way that emphasized Athenaââ¬â¢s importance as the centerpiece. On the outside of the temple were about ninety different metopes depicting gods and goddesses and a 590 foot frieze on the inside. Greeks were proud of the Parthenon, not only because it was considered a piece of art, but because it was also significant of their victory over Persia. They worshipped to Athena all over the Acropolis and also sacrificed animals such as oxen, goats and s heep.Sometimes worship was held in the form of social festivities honoring Athena. Sacred sites were greatly influenced by the cultures of each era, and had a impact on the lives of the people. The Great Stupa, which was open to all of India, attracted many buddhists and was a center for prayer. In ancient Greece, the Parthenon was used to worship athens main deity, Athena, and served as a place of worship to other gods as well. It was placed on a higher surface to show its importance, and the Great Stupa engraved inscriptions of the people who donated to the construction of the temple to show appreciation.
